In October 2022, Alessandro Raffaelli, an Italian citizen who visits Formentera regularly, was snorkelling on Levante beach when something caught his attention on the seabed. He spotted the remains of a wooden boat that had spread out on a rocky bottom.<\/p>\n\n

In that moment, Alessandro did two immensely helpful things for the team of archaeologists who would later on travel to the site to document this find. He geolocated it with the help of an apple watch and took pictures.<\/p>\n\n

Immediately afterwards, he informed the Formentera Council about the discovery and provided the exact location along with the images taken, all of which was inspected by an IBEAM team.<\/p>\n\n
